Le Snitch, Whereabouts Unknown, CA

Newton Claret
Vintage: 2005
Type: - Bordeaux
Region: - California
Quality: 9 Value: 9
This is an exceptional, medium bodied Bordeaux-style wine. Elegant, sophisticated and an amazing value.

J. Vidal Fleury Cotes du Rhone
Vintage: 2006
Type: - Rhone
Region: - France
Quality: 9 Value: 7
The Snitch is back, and true to form! After a few poor vintages, could there finally be good wine values in the marketplace once again? We shall soon know, though this Rhone hints that 2006 may prove a decent vintage for good wines at good prices.

Obsidian Ridge Syrah
Vintage: 2004
Type: - Syrah/Shiraz
Region: - California
Quality: 8 Value: 8
Deep color. Elegant and sophisticated. And a great value. Hard to find, but well worth the effort.

Tobin James Primitivo
Vintage: 2005
Type: - Other Red Wine
Region: - California
Quality: 8 Value: 7
All the characteristics of a great primitivo: smooth, bold and just enough fruit. You'll enjoy this one.

Archipel
Vintage: 2002
Type: - Other Red Wine
Region: - California
Quality: 9 Value: 8
This is an elegant wine with near universal appeal. The traditional Bordeaux blend offers delicate complexity from nose to finish. It's a truly excellent wine for a very fair price.

Cristom Mt. Jefferson Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2003
Type: - Pinot Noir
Region: - Pacific Northwest
Quality: 8 Value: 7
This is a pefect red to accompany fish. It's both light and full-flavored, and it finishes nicely.

Kirkland Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage: 2004
Type: - Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: - California
Quality: 8 Value: 6
Kirkland is CostCo's ubiquitous private label. The above average price ($18) and Napa Valley origin prompted me to give it a try. It's a true California Cab: dark, bold and a bit earthy. Very good. Make sure you let it breathe before enjoying.

Croix du Mayne Cahors
Vintage: 2002
Type: - Other Red Wine
Region: - France
Quality: 8 Value: 8
i was away a while, I took a short sabbatical and went to the land of the garagistes... I tasted some great and not so great homemade zins and blends (all foot crushed) but that's a long story... The pick this week comes to you from BevMo. I reviewed a Cahors recently and this is another that is just right. Buy it, try it, let me know what you think.

Oakley Five Reds
Vintage: 2003
Type: - Other Red Wine
Region: - California
Quality: 8 Value: 9
This wonderful blend is much more than a wine of the week. It has scents of California's varied regions, a delectable fusion of different varietals (five go into this Zin and Rhone blend) with bright fruit, smooth tannins and the right amount of oak. Grab a bottle or better yet, a few cases, drink now, save some for a few years down the road and thank the folks at Cline Cellars for this beauty. And when you see the price ($9!) you may want to petition and make this the official wine of the People of California.

Chateau de Seguin
Vintage: 2003
Type: - Bordeaux
Region: - France
Quality: 8 Value: 7
Finally a good wine from Trader Joe's otherwise dismal Bordeaux selection.
